Shooze Cruise

One of our lovely members, Darcie Bernier, would like to invite you all to the 2014 Shooze Cruise to benefit St. Francis House! When she’s not here crushing WODs, Darcie is a full-time fundraiser for St. Francis house, which over the last 30 years has become the largest day shelter in New England. The shelter serves 800 homeless men and women a day, 365 days a year, providing the following services:
Basic services: Food, Clothing, Daytime Shelter, Showers, Toiletries, Mail and ID Services
Rehabilitative: Mental Health Counseling, Vocational Job Placement, Art Therapy, a Women’s Center and Medical Services
Housing services: The 7th-10th floors of our building house 56 single-occupancy rooms for low-income men and women who have experienced homelessness, unemployment, and substance abuse

Darcie has organized the “Shooze Cruise” to raise funds for St. Francis House, and put shoes on those who are at the shelter. This exciting evening cruise will be held on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 and will feature live music from the Berklee College of Music, dancing, an onboard raffle, free appetizers and a cash bar. Last year, 250 attendees boarded the ship with 273 pairs of donated shoes in tow for the homeless. The casual shoes collected onboard are distributed to guests in need, and the professional styles are given to students in the job-readiness program for interviews, internships and graduations.
