The CrossFit Southie coaching staff is excited to announce the newest member of our team, Sean Tully! His first day will be tomorrow, August 11th. Please give him a warm welcome during his first week!

Sean’s love for fitness started when he was a Division 1 college tennis athlete and began lifting weights as part of his training. After graduation his interest progressed to bodybuilding and powerlifting . Sean found Crossfit in 2012 and started coaching soon after at Crossfit Boston (which later became the Taj, and now is Brick). Sean is coming to Southie after coaching at Crossfit New England for the past year and a half. He also just returned from the 2015 CrossFit Games out in LA where he competed against the best in the world as a member of the CFNE team. Before Crossfit, Sean coached Menโ€™s and Womenโ€™s College tennis at Merrimack College and traveled as a tennis professional.

We asked Sean what to share with the community what coaching means to him:

Coaching is an opportunity to help a person achieve something they never thought possible by giving them the encouragement and tools to build confidence in themselves. Bill Belicheck once said, ‘Believing in yourself is the only thing that matters’. A good coach takes the steps necessary in order for this to happen. The moment when an athlete accomplishes a goal they set out to achieve or overcomes a fear is why I coach. The impact that this new confidence can have outside of the gym can improve their relationships, career, and passions. That is why I have made CrossFit my career.

I hope to build relationships with all of athletes at Southie so we can share some of these life changing moments and make your class the best hour of your day. Whether it be helping you qualify for the Crossfit Games or getting your first pullup, I look forward to helping you believe in yourself and achieve your goals.”
