Tis the season to GIVE!

citc-6432Count your many blessings within the last year and be a blessing to someone else in need. As a community, we are trying to contribute as many gifts as possible towards the Christmas in the Cityย  charity. During the holiday season this charity will distribute gifts to children of over 2,000 families within the greater Boston area. They provideย  each child living in a shelter with the specific gift that child has selected, wrapped with a card personalizing it to the child. The gift is presented to each child at party which is far beyond their wildest dreams.

After being greeted at the door by their favorite cartoon characters, the children are lavished with a catered lunch, a stage show, petting zoo, hands-on exhibits from local museums, carnival rides, clowns, athletes from local pro teams, visits with Santa. Hair dressers, barbers and estheticians pamper both Momโ€™s and kids. Dentists clean teeth. All this happens in a safe, festive environment. It is The Best Day of the Year for most of our guests.

More than simply giving a gift, Christmas in the City attempts to connect with the family and child in a way that they know their neighbors care for them. By having developed relationships with organizations sheltering homeless families, Christmas in the City is able to offer support and guidance to families as they transition from shelters to their own homes.

If you would like to contribute a gift, take a look at the suggested toy list HERE. If you prefer online shopping to avoid the holiday crazies there is also a WISHLIST on Amazon.ย  You can even have it shipped right to Crossfit Southie if you’d like.ย  We’ve got tubs right by the front desk to fill so please join us in making a child’s Christmas extra special this year. Remember that “happiness doesn’t result from what we get, but from what we give.”

Squat Clean: 165×1 (10lbs off my 1RM…definitely out of practice on the Oly lifts…and by the way…does anyone know when the Oly classes are gonna start up?!)
WOD: 11:32 L2 – Except for the last set of pull ups–and my usual taking too long in between movements–this went pretty smoothly. Good WOD for sure…

45# squat clean (still rehabbing so have to keep things super-light)
12:52 – no assistance bands for pull ups – first time ever! And a nice congratulatory rip on my palm to show for it. ๐Ÿ™‚

I love that wishlist…so easy to order on Amazon. Also, I selected drone delivery to CFS, so heads up. http://www.cbsnews.com/news/amazon-unveils-futuristic-plan-delivery-by-drone/

    225# squat clean (10# PR). 9:31 RX
Some serious weight getting thrown around at 5:30AM. Shared a platform with Marc, Vetter, and Ben and I’m pretty sure there were PRs all around.

This may be a silly question, but should the gifts be wrapped or not?
