Civic Tech Challenge: Saturday November 1st
CFS Member Gill Pressman is the Boston Director of an action civics organization called Generation Citizen (GC) and she would like to invite the CFS community to attend the upcoming Civic Tech Challenge on Saturday, November 1st at Microsoft NERD (1 Memorial Drive, Cambridge). The event also features our very own Jascha Franklin-Hodge.
The Civic Tech Challenge includes a day-long hackathon (9am to 5pm) in which developers, designers, and digital marketers will hack Boston’s biggest community problems alongside high school students from the GC program. If you are a techie, a designer, a marketing expert, or an innovation enthusiast, sign-up to participate! Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks included.
Following the hackathon, teams will present their hacked solutions in front of event keynote and honoree Jeff Bussgang of Flybridge Capital (also a Crossfitter!) and a Judging Panel of leading civic innovators, including Boston Chief Information Officer Jascha Franklin-Hodge. 200+ guests from Boston’s tech and service provider communities will be present. Local restaurants will be providing appetizers and there will be an open beer and wine bar.

Parkour Seminar at CrossFit Fenway
On Saturday, October 25th from 11:30am-1:30pm, our friends at CrossFit Fenway are hosting a Parkour Seminar. Parkour is the physical discipline of training to overcome any obstacle within one’s path by adapting one’s movements to the environment. Three professional Parkour instructors will lead the seminar. These guys really know their stuff and have worked with CrossFit Games athletes to help them learn the ways of Parkour. The seminar is $50 and will be capped at 30 athletes, so sign up quickly if you’re interested! Please email [email protected] to register.
