Member Spotlight! – Krista LoCurto!

We’re so excited to announce our newest Member Spotlight – Krista LoCurto!  Krista is new to CFS this year, she hit the ground running when she joined in February and has been crushing it ever since. Krista gives 100% effort in every class, has a great attitude and accepts coaching feedback so well. She also puts in extra work aside from class including getting up for 7AM skill sessions on a Saturday and signing up for the Fall Nutrition Challenge. Even through quarantine, when CFS was closed Krista kept up with her fitness and following along with At-Home WODs despite being on the newer side of her Crossfit journey! Krista sets a great example and we’re so happy to have her in the CFS community! We can’t wait to see the progress we know she’ll continue to make! Check out our interview below with Krista!

Name: Krista LoCurto
Profession: TJX Companies Logistics Buyer

When did you start at Crossfit Southie?
Feb 2020

What is your Favorite movement and WOD?
Squats! Any kind- front, back, box. DT hero WOD has been my favorite thus far.

Which Class do you Frequent?
4pm during the week. Weekends vary

What has been your biggest accomplishment so far?
learning how to do kipping pull-ups

What are your Fitness Goals?
Get strong AF! And master the snatch

What is your Favorite Part of Crossfit?
Pushing my body to do things I never thought I was capable of and feeling the sense of accomplishment after finishing a crazy WOD or heavy lift.

How did you get involved in CrossFit and what was your first WOD/experience?
I’d been lifting and strength training on my own for a couple years and decided I wanted to find something where I could meet people who enjoyed working out as much as I did. I was really nervous to go to CrossFit for the first time, but it’s the best decision I’ve made! My first WOD included toes to bar and double unders; I couldn’t do either, but did my best to push myself.

What are your hobbies outside of CrossFit?
I love doing anything active and outdoors; hiking, boating, paddle boarding, going to the beach, etc., and spending time with my new puppy!

What’s a “Fun Fact” about you?
I’m obsessed with Cheetos, the crunchy and puffy ones

What did you do for exercise while CFS was closed during quarantine?
CFS at home WODs of course :). I also did my best to run a couple days a week.
