Crossfit Open Scores are DUE BY 8PM MONDAY NIGHT! Make sure you go to the games webpage and submit your scores for 17.1! CFS Internal Team Assignments can be found here. We’re continuing to add members as they sign up. If you haven’t been assigned to a team by tomorrow night please send us an email.  If you are looking to get the WOD done or retest today, 530am and 6pm will likely have a bunch of people doing so.  Outside of those times, we will still get you set up with a judge to do so just come on in and get it done!

Please join us in congratulating our newest member of the month, Stacy Trojanowski! Stacy joined our Fundamentals program in January of 2016, and has been consistently crushing it ever since. Though timid at first, Stacy continued to show up to class and push herself outside of her comfort zone a bit more each day. It has been amazing to watch her grow as an athlete in the last year. Beyond that, she is an integral part of the CFS community, especially the 7pm crew. It’s been a blast getting to know her and watch her progress, and we can’t wait to see what’s to come. Congratulations, Stacy!

How did you get involved in CrossFit? What was your first WOD/experience?
My sister and brother-in-law have been members of Shoreline CrossFit/Shoreline Athletics, in CT, for 6+ years now. My first WOD experience was with them both at a Thanksgiving family WOD. I remember being sore for days after that workout, but I enjoyed every minute. I watched my sister grow as a person, physically and mentally, as she developed strength and great friendships in her 6AM class. I admire and look up to my sister, and after seeing her transformation over the years, not to mention her constant push for me to join, she finally was able to convince me to join CrossFit Southie last year!

When did you start coming to CrossFit Southie?
I joined CrossFit Southie in January 2016 in the Fundamentals class.

Is this the first CrossFit you’ve worked out at / how long have you been CrossFitting for?
I joined my sister a few times at her gym in CT, Shoreline CrossFit/Athletics. CrossFit Southie is the first gym I’ve belonged to and I have been CrossFitting for over a year now, 3 times a week.

When did you realize that CrossFit was right for you?
Physical activity has always been important to me in life. Spin class, boxing, and even working out on my own at the gym are amongst the activities I’ve tried. I reached a point where the workouts became routine and I wasn’t able to push myself to the next level physically. The physical and mental strength I’ve gained as well as the friendships I’ve found over this past year only confirm that I made a great decision joining CrossFit. Being surrounded by such a great community of support only makes the brutal long workouts a bit less painful and the fun workouts even more enjoyable.

What are you short-term and long-term CrossFit goals?
My short-term goal here at CrossFit is to continue to push myself outside my comfort zone. My new year’s resolution was to only complete the WODs at level 2 or above, and so far I think my fellow 7PMers can attest, I’ve succeeded in most cases. I’d like to also work on taking out “I can’t” from my vocabulary.

My long-term goal at CrossFit would be to compete in a small CrossFit competition. My nerves already get the best of me before a class WOD begins, and being able to get outside my comfort zone and compete would show strength physically and mentally!

7pm crew!

What is your biggest accomplishment?
This is a great question… I would have to say my biggest accomplishment so far at CrossFit Southie was showing up and continuing to show up. The day I was able to complete my first kipping pull up was the day I realized I was finally getting stronger. I wouldn’t have been able to do any of this without my sister, all the coaches, and my 7PMers who have become like family.

What is your favorite / least favorite WOD/movement?
My favorite WOD movement would be any kind of squat! (Back, front, sumo)
My least favorite, as most people already know, would be rowing or handstand push-ups, for the fear of being upside down!

What do you do for a profession outside of CrossFit?
I work at EnerNOC, an energy intelligence software company in Seaport, in their finance department.

What are your hobbies outside of CrossFit?
Outside of CrossFit, I spend a lot of my time still working out; spin classes, biking (when it’s warmer), or hiking with my boyfriend and his dog, Dustin. I enjoy cooking new recipes and making healthy snacks. Most importantly I love spending time with my family, especially my nieces and nephew.

Do you eat Paleo or Zone? What is your favorite paleo/non-paleo meal?
I wouldn’t say I eat strict paleo; however I do eat extremely healthy and I do eat gluten free due to an allergy. My favorite meal of the day would be breakfast, which always consists of eggs, bacon or sausage, sweet potatoes, and always a vegetable. Food prep is a huge part of my life and SundayFunday routine. My favorite non-paleo meal would have to gf pizza and my biggest food weakness is anything with chocolate. 

Fun fact?
I am the youngest of three in my family, growing up with two older twin sisters, and I always wished I had a little brother or sister. Last year, I was fortunate enough to be accepted into the Big Brother Big Sister Organization, where I met my Little sister Lily. We have been matched for a little over 7 months now and every time we have a play date she teaches me something new about life. Her positive energy and appreciative outlook on life, makes me feel extremely grateful to call her my little sister.
