Since the Richard Family are our neighbors, and because they have been so dramatically affected we have chose them to fundraise for specifically. If you plan to do the workout on Saturday please offer a donation before or after doing so. Every little bit counts. If everyone just gives $5.00 then from the box alone we will be able to raise at least $2500.00. Between the funeral costs and the medical bills they will need every penny . If you are from a local box and would like to participate with us on Saturday, please make a $20.00 donation and come and WOD with us. Pass this post on to every CrossFitter you know.

    26:30 Rx.

    The 4 C&Js sucked.
    The 15 CTBs sucked.
    The 13 lateral burpees sucked.
And obviously, the finale 800m run sucked.
Yet, it gave me time to think about the significance of that run; the people that may have ran the same distance in frantic search for loved ones; the people that had to stop the race and couldn’t finish the final 800+ due to the circumstances; the people that did finish and crushed that final 800 in anticipation of seeing friends and family while setting a new PR… And, I found myself running faster. I didnt think about my legs. I didnt think about my lungs. And, I obviously, didnt think about my form. I just put myself in that scenario and my body reacted.

I find this appropriate given the recent discussion about the mental block of stepping up to a new PR lift. It’s choooched to say this, but the mental aspect of CrossFit needs to be evolving as fast, if not faster, than your body mechanics to set that new PR. Whether it is putting my mind into situations like this past week, or stepping up to a bar and continually telling myself “light weight, light weight.” It is these little thing that help shave seconds off the clock or establish a new OLY PR. Notice how the hero WODs make you push a little harder? or how the last round/last minute you are able to link ALL of your movements because you know the end is near? Its almost all mental.

Give it a try. It may work for you, it may not. Or maybe I’m way behind the 8-ball because everyone else already knows this…
