Nutrition Challenge Wrap Up
Much overdue Nutrition Challenge results are finally here! Thank you so much for your patience as we calculated the results amidst the Shwodown, etc. Congratulations to all participants and our winners!

Another Nutrition Challenge has come to an end, and once again we could not be happier with the results and more proud of everyone who participated. This challenge was not a strict Paleo challenge like in the past; instead it focused on “clean eating” by eliminating processed foods, added sugar, and alcohol. Another change from previous challenges was that everyone was broken up into teams to log their foods, participate in weekly team challenges, post on social media, and create healthy meals creatively together. Besides focusing on team participation, points were also given for mobility, sleep, post-workout nutrition, hydration, workouts, and rest days. Typically the biggest challenge for most people is cutting out alcohol; but there were only a few slip-ups over the course of the six weeks, which is very impressive.

Almost all participants noted feeling more energized during their workouts, and their results certainly spoke for themselves when they retested their benchmark workouts. If you missed out on this Nutrition Challenge and would like more information on fueling for performance, stop by the front desk and pick up a packet full of useful information, or ask for Michelle Boutet, our in-house Registered Dietitian (or email her, [email protected]).

As always, picking the winners for this challenge was tough. Everyone who made it through the entire six weeks of the challenge showed tremendous discipline and had great improvements in their baseline measurements and benchmark workouts. However, winning the challenge is not all about weight loss; it is about consistency and participation across the board. This is true for reaching any goal in life – chip away little by little and before you know it, you’ll get there.

The winners of this challenge were committed to logging their food, working out and working together, staying away from alcohol, and not making excuses when life inevitably created a bump in the road. Congratulations to everyone who completed this challenge and to the winners. Remember how great you felt at the end of this challenge and continue to make healthy decisions moving forward 

First Prize Team Winner: Hangry Hangry Hippos

Liz Mitchell, David Lavieri, Brian Nelson, and Melissa Bavin
Prize: $600 for the Team!
This team worked really hard to complete all the challenges together. They held each other accountable, logged their food consistently, had very few “cheats”, changed their body compositions, and improved their fitness. They also seemed to have a lot of fun based on their frequent social media posts. Of note, Melissa recently had a baby and was able to lose 4.8% of her body weight in six weeks. The team together lost 11.5 lbs (6.8%), 11.5 inches and 3.2% body fat. Congratulations team!

Second Prize Team Winner: Nutrition Challenge and Chill

Jen Merinder, Ben Bauer, and Ben Ford
Prize: $200 for the Team!
This team was not far behind the first place winners overall and worked really hard throughout the six weeks. They were also consistent with logging their food, working hard in the gym (even doing home WODs when they couldn’t make it to the gym), and completed all the team challenges. They improved their benchmark WOD scores and saw some significant changes on the scale. They definitely get first place for creativity and team spirit. Together they lost a total of 16 lbs (8.3%), 7.5 inches, and 3% of their body fat. Nice work you guys!!
