Go ahead, Sandbag Those Pistols!

Just a reminder to get excited about the upcoming scavenger hunt followed by the anniversary party taking place on October 19th. It is a great way to meet new people, explore the city and get a workout in. We take amazingly awesome Crossfit pictures and videos during the day then they are shown on a big screen at the anniversary party. The entire day/night is a ton of fun so if you’re on the fence about either don’t be…just come!

Also, we are hosting the Southie Showdown and the more judges and volunteers we have on hand the smoother it goes for everybody involved. It would be greatly appreciated if you would help us in any capacity the weekend of November 9th and 10th. Signing up to help will sure gain brownie points with your coaches and maybe gets you out of penalty burpees down the road (just kidding, not a chance!) but seriously click the link and sign up if you’re available, we are going to need all the help we can get!

18:08 with 75 # – used a blue band for the pistols and no sandbag on the 200m runs.
Ran the Spartan Beast on Saturday…my legs would have collapsed under a the weight of a sandbag tonight.

Dropped in to Crossfit 619 in San Diego. Great place and the owner is a big follower of crossfit Southie!

    Warmup: 500m row, 10 pull-ups, 10 HRPU
Strength: 5 sets of 1 hang power snatch from mid-thigh and 1 from just above knees (took it easy and just did 60#); 5 sets of 1 hang power clean from mid-thigh and 1 from knee (80 #)

WOD 1: 2-4-6-8-10 strict pull-ups and hang power snatch (7:20 something, 55#, red band)
    WOD 2: 2-4-6-8-10 strict pull-ups and hang power clean (8:34ish, 75#, red/purple)

Good to be back in the box after taking most of last week off due to “Paleo Flu” aka total lack of energy!

Scaled everything down today just to get through the WOD. First set of pistols took way too long.

24:28 (Rx except for unweighted pistols). Slow going but had a breakthrough with the pistols, so I’ll take it.

The “530HTK” tour continues. Last week we had Dave visit the 7:00 a.m. class and kill it and today we hosted Marc P and he did the same. Both of those guys showed why their class lives up to its name.

I know how this is going to sound but I truly believe weighted pistols are easier than regular ones (when not doing volume of course)
