The positive feedback from the garage games has been amazing. Everyone seemed to find the competition a fun and rewarding experience. From those who did not compete, I have heard most volunteers, judges and spectators say that they were very inspired. Everyone came back and hit it hard last week, which was very impressive from a coaches perspective. You all continue to exceed our expectations each day.

I guess with all powerful movements, such as crossfit, there are always going to be individuals who want to cause controversy or bring others down. There was a very negative and offensive post written about the garage games but has since been removed.

For many of us CrossFit has changed our lives in more ways then one. There are always going to be people who will never understand that or want to understand that, and that’s okay. Don’t waste your breath. I mean, if everyone did CrossFit then it wouldn’t be as special.

    Marcella I am right there with you – I made up my own scale too there was no way I could do L2 for the hang squat cleans but I tried hard. Was the last one to finish the WOD, but was thrilled to be around such great athletes (as per usual at CF Southie). You guys and gals amaze me. Happy with new PR for deadlifts 155 x3.

    I’m sad for Steve H. – surrounded by all of those amazing athletes and he felt no inspiration… only his own insecurities.

    Mel was KILLIN’ IT today on the deadlifts!

    Hey guys, ordering protein.. anyone have info/thoughts on the Protein syrup that was being sampled and sold by a vendor at the Garage Games (and the name/link if recommend it)? Seemed convenient and sold me. Thanks.

    Just worked on strength today. Saturday morning’s WOD was very similar to today’s.

    Back Squat: 275×1, failed at 285…shooting for 300# by 1.1.12
    Bench: 215×3

    Everyone’s entitled to their opinion, but he seems to have been to a different gym. Maybe he’s confusing CFS for another gym? Or perhaps he should have his hearing/vision checked? We’ve got beautiful and buff ladies all over the place at CFS, and some of his other descriptions also don’t match up.

    Frederick, we understand that not everyone views CrossFit as we do nor do we expect everyone too. We are not forcing CrossFit on anyone, in fact whenever exercise is brought up in casual conversation, I try to stay as far removed as possible because I know how personal it can be for people. We have never provided a service to the reviewer and never had the chance to change his views and teach him the CrossFit (Southie) methodology. For this reason alone we have the right to defend our business and our name.. His review is based solely on common CrossFit stereotypes and his arguments are unsupported and ignorant. I don’t mind a bad review if it is warranted, but if someone insults my mother without without ever knowing her, you can bet I am not going to take it lightly. Enough about Steven H already, we have better things to do.

    it’s funny how just one bad review its being construe as someone trying to bring you down, as tough and strong as crossfiters are physically, mentally you can be easily tortured. Crossfit Southie you are a business, get over it and move on. You’re not always going to get the star or the pat on the back. it’s also a shame on those of you who come out and insult the reviewer, shows your mentally capacity. All i am trying to say is, stop attacking those who don’t view the world of crossfit as we do, it brings us down to their level. You know what you get in return for doing crossfit, be bigger and smarter than the ones giving you bad reviews.

    Ladies, ladies, ladies….you guys crack me up. None of you look like men. Clearly Steve H was trying to make every attack possible without actually being a part of the community. He also said that the guys still have guts….mmm ok.

    I feel bad for him too. Anyone who tries to bring others down to make themselves feel better has something much deeper going on.

    It pretty obvious that little Stevie H. has some issues. I sense one of them is he is cursed with ridiculously small genitalia. I think he is also intimidated by the gorgeous, wonderful people that particpate in Crossfit. Especially those at Crossfit Southie. So little Stevie can go away and we’ll keep doing our WOD’s and getting better everyday. Also, if Crossfit was a cult, wouldn’t we get robes or matching track suits or something?

    Have to admit I had mixed reviews about the GG by some friends/fam and it has been tough. But, I decided to fight the haters and posted my “manly” photos on FB. Stay strong CFS!! Also, yelp, sucks!

    This Steve guy must be bummed because he is not part of a family like CrossFit Southie. If he only knew how much CrossFit changes peoples’ lives both physically and mentally, he might be singing a different tune. Amy and Chris and the Southie crew are the most amazing people I know…if it weren’t for them and all of you, my life would be very different. I just want to thank you all for being the awesome burnt toasties that you are.

    Also— This comment about crossfit girls looking like dudes….all I can say is….I’m strong AND I have boobs, thank you very much!

    Inculcation into the cult of CrossFit Southie is among the best things that’s ever happened to me.

    And I think this place is a bargain considering all the value I derive from it.

    Finally, CrossFit ladies, you are beautiful and strong–inside and out–and don’t let anyone ever tell you different.

    I wish we could have a follow-up with steven, a little question and answer time…I would like to ask him where the man-woman are (a little nervous to hear the answer), and what his idea of fun is…He was at the garage games doing what exactly?

    I am extremely proud to be part of this “cult”, and would not change anything about CFS, its amazing!!

    You guys especially everyone else that day did a phenomenal job and helped pushed me to strive for the best in my athletic abilities. I was not able to compete in the Garage Games, but after seeing all my friends from CrossFit Southie as well as other CrossFit boxes compete, it made me want to compete more and more in the Garage Games next year when that time comes. Thank you to everyone for the drive and inspiration and keep working at it guys! To everyone out there don’t ever forget this “Let the haters be your motivators.” Keep on truckin guys and see you around the box soon

    Stevie’s “business” is negativity as you can see by ALL of his other reviews. I wouldn’t sweat this Darl (Debbie Downer’s younger brother).

    Keep in mind there are 1000s of POSITIVE reviews opposing this Meat Castle’s negative one. There are five right around his on yelp.

    CF Southie is incredible!!! The Garage Games were awesome!!!

    i agree with mullins…judging by some of his 5-star reviews (milton hospital, hampton inn, med-assit home care) , it’s clear, this guy hates fun. if you hate fun, you aren’t going to like alot of things. crossfit included.

    The best part of this Yelp review? You know that Yelp and this comment section is going to blow up with Burnt Toasties gushing about how bomb Southie is. Even better: no one will be negative towards Steve or any other source of negativity because we don’t need to be!

    CF Southie is a great facility with first class coaches from top to bottom. All dedicated and with superb attention to detail. Didn’t make the games but have heard amazing stories first hand from many that judged and particpated.

    Amy/Goose clearly are successful business owners that are passionate about their employees and members.

    “…many of the women looked like men.” Hahahahaha!! That is actually hilarious. I must be going to the wrong classes cause I have never seen any of these he-she’s. Wait… am I one of them??! Sounds like this guy has some kind of complex when it comes to strong women. I’ll be writing a great review soon!!

    Old Steve-o is probably just upset because he is vegan and hasn’t had bacon in awhile. If you read his other posts he also doesn’t like Budweiser or main street bars in Plymouth, which is the craziest thing I have ever heard and completely discredits his opinions.

    Steven H. or who ever this guy is???, is a Hater and anyone who knows CF Southie or any people involved know this guys is crazy. Per your request I will allow him to continue to be a negative person and wont challenge him….
    With much respect CF Southie has changed my life in so many ways! Thank you!

    Ames you prob beat him at the rope climb in gym class or something
    I know many ppl are already pumped for another competition because GG was so awesome!
    Let’s do another home team throwdown (I think there has been talk about doing this already) and/or the team throwdown in Newton is Jan 29th.
