The 2017 Open is Coming…
How’s your training coming along? The 2017 Open launches February 25th!

The Crossfit Open is the first round of the CrossFit Games and consists of 1 workout each week over the course of 5 weeks. Anyone can participate in the Open – it is simultaneously one of the fiercest but most inclusive competitions out there. There are different age divisions, as well as the option to complete some or all of the workouts scaled. There is a way for everyone and every ability level to get involved!

In the coming month and a half, we will be re-testing Open workouts from previous years on Fridays to prepare and get in the Open spirit. When the Open officially starts on the 25th of February, we will be completing these workouts in classes as the Workout of the Day. You’ll be attending class anyway, so why wouldn’t you sign up?!

“What’s the point? I don’t plan on making it to Regionals!”, you say? The Open is fun! It is designed so you push yourself to your limit, see how you improve year to year and find out the areas where you could use some extra improvement, making your training more focused in the next coming year. Additionally, if a wheelhouse WOD comes up and you crush it, your score will be contributed to the team and can help a CrossFit Southie team to Regionals this year! We are hoping to have a team represent CrossFit Southie for the 7th straight year this year.

Competing is the best part about CrossFit. It’s not about being the best or beating others; it’s about competing with yourself and pushing yourself harder than you usually do. There is nothing quite like the camaraderie that is built around the feeling of pushing yourself to the limits alongside your peers. It’s the reason why we love CrossFit and the reason why we encourage each of you to take part in the Open, no matter where you are in your CrossFit journey. Registration is really easy and only costs $20. Again, whether you decide to register or not, we are all going to be doing these WODs in class on Fridays. You might as well get involved!

Signing up for the Open is very easy. Follow the steps below and get involved in all of the fun!
1. Click HERE to begin.
2. Log in with your account information from last year, of if you are new to competing, create an account!
3. Select “CrossFit Southie” as your affiliate.
4. Click Continue to sign the electronic waiver.
5. Fill out billing info to register & pay…. but you’re not done yet!!
6. Click “fill in your profile” to update as much or as little information as you want.
7. Click “Join a Team”
8. Add yourself to the team: “CrossFit Southie”
9. Celebrate that you’re signed up for the Open, then get back to training!

Benchmark: OpenWOD 15.3
Complete as many rounds and reps as possible in 14 minutes of:
7 muscle-ups
50 wall-ball shots
100 double-unders

scaled open- 50 wallballs/200 singles

Level 3- 7 Strict Pull-ups/10 Dips
Level 2- 7 Strict Pull-ups/10 Dips, 25 Wallballs, 50 Double unders
Level 1- 10 Ring Rows, 10 Dips, 25 Wallballs, 100 singles
