For Whitney

With heavy hearts, we have sad news to share with our community. One of our members, Whitney Hardy, was seriously injured last Thursday. She was hit by a car while on a run and sustained severe head injuries. She is currently in the ICU under the close watch of her doctors, with a difficult and long road to recovery ahead of her. You can read more about her progress here.

Whitney came to CrossFit Southie in early December after her fiancรฉ, Dan Stebbins , finally convinced her to join after a year of CrossFitting himself. She quickly became a part of the evening WOD crew in Southie Green and was making impressive progress in a short amount of time. From day one, Whitney had a smile on her face through every workout, always had a great attitude, and was the first to introduce herself to the person lifting next to her. She’s a natural athlete and a great person to have in our community.

Whitney & Dan’s family and friends have set up a fundraising site to help ensure that they do not have to worry about medical bills, rehabilitation costs, and living expenses during the long recovery process. THIS Saturday, we will be performing a workout dedicated to Whitney. We will have donation jars at the gym so that you can contribute to the fund, or you can make an online donation by clicking here.

Please join us on Saturday to WOD for Whitney and show our support for her and Dan during this difficult time.

Whitney…you are in my thoughts. Although I will be out of town for the WOD in your honor on Saturday, I dedicate the Napa Valley Marathon I am running on Sunday to you. Best wishes for a fast recovery. You’re a CrossFitter, WE are capable of anything we set our minds to!

Wishing you a speedy recovery, and hope to see you back in the gym getting stronger soon!

185lbs, 232 reps. Thought I had a few less reps than Marc but now it looks like I came out ahead! I second the comment that the airdyne can be brutal if you push yourself hard enough.

I didn’t post it on the board, but my prediction for tomorrow’s workout:
    10min AMRAP:
    25 box jumps
    20 thrusters (96/65)
    25 box jumps
    20 thrusters (135/95)
    25 box jumps
    Max thrusters (185/135)

Whitney is always a pleasure to have in class. She is a fun loving, hard working individual. We are devastated by the accident and our thoughts and prayers are with her and her family and we wish her a full recovery.

Just terrible news about Whitney. Our thoughts are with you and your family. I will be there on Saturday with a contribution. Fight for all that’s ahead of you.

    185×3
225 but I mistakenly put 235 on the board. Air dyne is a terrible machine
