Open WOD 14.1 Predictions?

Amanda - Focused

Amanda – Focused

The First Open WOD will be released released this Thursday night at 8pm. We will have a live viewing of the announcement on the projection screen in the boom boom room (mobility room).  If you haven’t signed up yet, make sure you head over to to sign up and join the CrossFit Southie II team.

Last year the Open kicked off with an 18 minute AMRAP of burpees and snatches. Any guesses on what they’ll throw at us this year?! Post your guesses to the comments! Whoever comes closest will win a Southie t-shirt to add to their collection.

Lastly, if you can’t make it in for the Open WOD on Fridays during classes or just would like another whack at it, we will hold a retest on Sundays at noon each week.  Some retests will require sign up depending on the WOD and we will keep you updated here on the blog.  The retest at noon will replace the noon class on Sundays so if you are looking to get in a WOD other than the Open WOD, show up for the 9,10, 11 or Open Gym on Sunday.  If you can’t make any of these times, find a friend and come to Open Gym and you can judge each other.  If you don’t have a friend just show up and we will find one for you!

I have been sick all week and haven’t worked out so I hope it’s something easy that I’m good at. Maybe pass throughs with a PVC? Wishful thinking, I know.

I love it.. there are some sick, sick comments/WOD ideas posted. It’s great!

205# power clean. Legs got wide, elbows got slow, so I dropped back down to 185# and worked on form.
    WOD1 – 4 rounds even, RX. Heavy.Ass.Thrusters.
WOD2 – 7 rounds even, RX. Did all the DU unbroken, and felt like I was moving well on the situps, but couldn’t come close to keeping up with Ben, Alden, and Dudley – and wouldn’t you know, Ben’s been cashing out every day with 100 situps since 2009 and Alden and Dudley own the GHD after every class. Extra work pays off.
Today was Day 1 of my mission to improve HSPU. Retta recommended some deficit banded HSPU today – did sets of 10-7-4 going to stick with those until I can hit 10-10-10, then I’m going to switch from blue to red bands.

  • sammy belton 02/26/2014 at 4:54 am

I’m going with 12 min AMRAP burpee box jumps.

  • JBo 02/26/2014 at 3:26 am

I’m going with the same type of 17min AMRAP…still with burpees but with squat cleans instead of snatches…
